Dear Warrior's Wish--
I just wanted you write you and give you a little background on my husband, MSgt. James Valrie.  James spent 21 faithful years in the Marine Corps.  He and I met while both serving in the Marine Corps back in 2000.  James had put in his retirement papers to retire in 2002, but then Iraq came along.  He was given a choice to proceed with his retirement or staying in.  He chose to stay in the Marine Corps because he did not want his kids (his young Marines) in his command to be deployed with a new staff NCOIC that they did not know, so he chose to stay in and deploy with them.
"We essentially spent our honeymoon in Iraq due to our committment to the Corps; we were separated during the first 3 years of our marriage. Now, unfortunately, we are now spending our time together fighting this dreaded disease."
"James suffers from a renal cell carcinoma called "Collecting Duct Carcinoma".  It is extremely rare and affects only about 100 people in the entire United States a year.   The life expectancy is about six months for about 50% of the patients and only 5% ever make it to a year or two.  It is very aggressive with no known cure or good treatment.  Because it is so rare there is really not enough of the disease to study for cures or good treatments."
"During James' time in the Marine Corps, he served many years teaching young Marines.  He touched many lives throughout his time.  James' has always been one to say he never did anything special, he was just doing his job.  He would never accept a lot of praise for anything he did, even though those around him looked up to him in a special way as he touched their lives.  Since his battle with this horrible, aggressive cancer, we have received so many emails from Marines who knew him and they state how he made them a better person both in and out of uniform.  He has worked so hard his whole life, taking little time for himself and more time for those around him." James' wish is to spend a week at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel. If there is a way to make this wish come true, Warrior's Wish will "Make It Happen".
