Dear Warrior's Wish Foundation,

Last year I was a healthy husband of 26 years, father of 3, grandfather to a sweet little 5 year old girl and coach to a rowdy
On December 14, 2009 I had a CT Scan of my abdomen. On December 15, 2009 I had the upper and lower scopes. It was at this time that the doctor said, "its cancer" and we began our journey with the beast. I am currently in treatment at Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Tulsa, OK. I have finished four rounds of chemo (cisplatin and etoposide) and am scheduled for a PET scan and another scope on April 8th and 9th. I was diagnosed with small cell cancer of the GE junction and liver with lymph node activity. I have been told that small cell cancer is not curable however, it is treatable. My doctor says that he wants to keep me alive long enough for them to find a cure.

I have spent my life dedicated to my own children and the children of my community. I served in the Army until my wife and I got married and started our family...  I have coached for both the Boys & Girls Club and Boys Baseball of Cooke County. I have been a coach for 17 years and have coached over 200 children during that time. I've coached soccer, t-ball, baseball and softball at various times through out my own children's lives. I currently coach (now with the help of my 22 year old son) a U14 boy's soccer team. I've been coaching the boy's soccer team since they were 6 years old although none of the boys on the team are related to me in any way. I love youth sports and strongly believe that children need mentors to help them learn and grow and stay on the right path in life.

I didn't play sports when I was a child but I did watch the Little League World Series when it began to be televised. I watch every year and every year I have said I'd love to go see it live. I am inspired by the talent and ambition of the kids involved and simply love the sport. Being able to attend the LLWS in Williamsport, PA during the week of August 20-30, 2010 would be a dream come true for me.

I really appreciate any consideration of my wishes.

Robert

bunch of "under 14" boys. Or so I thought. I started having symptoms that my doctor thought were related to a heart condition and we pursued a diagnosis...
